At the foot bed of rinjani there is magnificent waterfall. The people there are Sendang Gile. It is located in Senaru village, Bayan sub district, North Lombok. It’s about two hours drive from Mataram. Sendang in Sasak language means waterfall and Gile means crazy. It was named so because the legend told that this waterfall was discovered accidently by a person who hunted a mad lion that ruined the village and fled into the woods.
 

Sendang Gile waterfall has 2-3 stacks of water coming out of Rinjani tropical forest’s green slit which reach 30 meters in height. This place is perfect for releasing stress and finding tranqualityfar away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is a belief in community that the water of Sendang Gile has anti-aging function and can help cure some diseases. To them, Sendang Gile is a source of life that they must guard from generation to generation.
 

From Mataram city, the trip to Sendang Gile could take 2-3 hours on a smooth road to front gate the waterfall. Walking to the waterfall, we are entertained by singing birds and funny monkeys. The local people are also warm heartedly welcome the travellers who want to enjoy the coolness pf Sendang Gile water.
 

There are many small, nice and clean hotels if we want to stay the foot bed of Rinjani near Sendang Gile. A walk from Senaru village to Sendang Gile could took about 15-20 minutes.
